Australian Wine

Thirty years ago, Australian wines were not particularly well-regarded. Nowadays, they export more wine than anywhere thats not Italy, Spain or France. Australias wine industry is among the fastest growing in the world, with between two and three wine producers opening their doors every week. Australias best wine customer is the United Kingdom, but the United States is right behind.

Like in most of the world, Australias wine industry is located in the south of the continent. Unlike most of the world, this is the cooler half, being further away from the equator.

Australia has a relatively wide variety of climates, allowing it to grow everything from Muscats (which do best in Italy) to Rieslings (which are usually found in Germany). Like America, Austrialia usually categorizes its finer wines by the variety of grape they contain. Also like America, Australia has begun to label its very best wines by region as well.
